The Sanctuary is a luxury 5 room boutique hotel nestled on the foothills of the majestic Swartberg mountain range on the southern edge of the Great Karoo. A moderate two hour drive from the coastal city of George, the town of Prince Albert has an arid climate and the landscape stark but breathtaking in a unique Karoo way.
Load shedding is, unfortunately, something that all South Africans have to deal with at the moment but we have a comprehensive solar back-up power system installed at The Sanctuary. Guests will be minimally affected by load shedding: air conditioners wont work for the periods that the power is off but everything else in the room will work, including a quiet fan, coffee machines, lights, fridge etc.
We are located in the main street within walking distance of shops, restaurants, art galleries and the award winning Fransie Pienaar Museum. We have secure off street parking for cars (and bikes) and a large (10m x 6m) pool. Activities to explore include hiking and rock climbing in the Swartberg Range, yoga classes, cooking classes and horse riding. Be aware, though, that the weather can be unpredictable, so take something warm with you whenever you go into the mountain, even in summer!

Rooms
Breakfast is included and, unless our guests have special dietary needs or requests, generally consists of a Full English Breakfast including freshly baked muffins, eggs any way you like it, crispy bacon, pork sausages, fried tomato, toast, local jams and preserves, granola, seasonal fruit, juices, coffee and tea.
Alcove Room
Ground floor room with bay window, a queen sized bed, en-suite bathroom with a bath (no shower), fridge , Nespresso coffee maker, 46 inch flat screen TV with a selection of local channels, air conditioner and hair dryer. Shaver plugs are provided in the bathroom.
Rates: R1 695.00 per couple per night sharing and R1 166.00 per person single occupancy.
Family Suite
Ground floor main room with bay window, a queen sized bed and sofa, plus adjoining room with two single beds, shared bathroom with a shower (no bath), fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, 46 inch flat screen TV with a selection of local channels, air conditioner and hair dryer. Shaver plugs are provided in the bathroom.
Rates: R1 733.00 per couple per night sharing plus R580.00 per extra guest. R1 155.00 per person single occupancy.
Double Room
First floor room with a queen sized bed, en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, 46 inch flat screen TV with a selection of local channels, air conditioner and hair dryer. Shaver plugs are provided in the bathroom.
Rates: R1 900.00 per couple per night sharing and R1 220.00 per person single occupancy.
King Room
First floor room with a king sized bed and sofa, en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, 46 inch flat screen TV with a selection of local channels, sofa, air conditioner and hair dryer. Shaver plugs are provided in the bathroom. This room has a large private balcony with outdoor seating.

Queen Room
